Thoughts on the new government in the UK

I'm actually really excited, even though my preference would have been for Labour to win the election. Well, actually, my real preference would have been for the Lib Dems to have won it, but my realistic preference would have been Labour.

Having said that, the Con-Lib coalition feels like the start of a new era, and I really hope it works. I think it's high time politics here became more collaberative and less adversarial, and this could be the start of that. Some of the more stupid policies by each of the parties have been weeded out already, including the Tory inheritance tax threshold increase and the Lib Dems' poorly thought-through mansion tax.( Read more... )

Spas had never been Ianto's thing. Gwen seemed almost as enthusiastic as Jack about some of the treatments he was describing, and although Owen and Tosh were a bit more cautious, they were both happy to go along with Jack's plan. So Ianto had excused himself and come back to his room; he'd been aware of Jack's eyes on him as he'd left but after the way he'd been singing the praises of the treatments they were about to have, he couldn't very well follow him.
